Whoberley Hall Primary School

Whoberley Hall is a smaller than average one form entry school within an area where there are a lot of schools within close proximity to each other. This side of Coventry housed a number of car manufacturers which resulted in all of the school places being required in the area. However, due to the closure of these manufacturers over the last decade or so, places required for children has fallen off considerably.

Whoberley was my first appointment as a Headteacher and I arrived in January 2011 excited and oblivious to the daunting task that lay ahead. On my arrival the school had gone through a turbulent few months. The previous Headteacher had left and most of the teachers had moved onto pastures new too. I had two teachers remaining from the previous leadership, three NQTs and a newly formed management team made up from new staff. I had no Deputy. There had been an interim Head in place for the Autumn term and therefore the parents were anxious and concerned. Rumours of closure were rife. To add to this an Ofsted inspection was overdue.
