West Croft Junior School

West Croft Junior is one of four primary phase state schools serving the town of Bideford in North Devon. The area where the school is based offers a challenge on many levels, with FSM eligibility at 40% and adult higher education figures just over half that of the national level.

I became the Head Teacher in 2007 and, as in any situation where significant change is required, the factors that drive it are strategic and procedural and while the development of the school has been a combination of both it has been the strategic decisions that have enabled the progressive aspects of our improvement to have such an impact.
