Walkergate Primary School

In 2002 Walkergate Primary School was born from the merger between Walkergate Infant and Walkergate Junior schools. The Primary school moved into a brand new PFI build in 2006 followed, in September 2013 with a federation between the Primary school and the local feeder Nursery, Walkergate Early Years Centre. Through reorganisation of schools across the local area and increased birth rate, the primary school numbers have also, most recently, increased further. There are currently 555 pupils in the primary school and 104 in Nursery. The majority of pupils are from white British backgrounds and live in the local area. The proportion of pupils eligible for pupil premium is well above average. The proportion of pupils supported through school action is above average. The proportion of pupils supported at school action plus or with a statement of special educational needs is average.
