St Anthony’s RC Primary School

St Anthony’s RC Primary School is an inclusive one form entry primary school in South East London. The school serves a diverse community where almost 60% of pupils speak English as an additional language. Since 2012 there has been significant and sustained whole school improvement which has been validated by our most recent Ofsted inspection in March 2016.

Continuity and Change

The current Head Teacher started her career at St Anthony’s as a newly qualified teacher 28 years ago. She was appointed to Headship in 2010; this appointment was the catalyst to necessary changes in staffing, accountability, ethos and curriculum in order to achieve success.

The impact of apathy and a lack of accountability at all levels resulted in poor behaviour and underachievement. Key appointments of Senior Leaders, excellent class teachers and committed support staff enabled the vision to become a reality. Creating a place of identity and belonging where everyone was valued; a school where all achieved their potential and were proud to say “I belong to St Anthony’s” became the goal.
