About Us

St. Andrew’s Church of England Primary School is a smaller than average, inner-city School in Salford. The school building dates to 1882 and serves an ethnically diverse community in an area ranked in the top 6% most deprived in the country. There are more boys than girls and the number of pupils with special educational needs is over twice the national average. St. Andrew’s also has higher pupil mobility than schools nationally. Although an Anglican school, the majority of pupils are Muslim and a significant proportion of children have English as an additional language. Typically pupils enter in Nursery or Reception below or well below age related expectations and leave at the end of Year 6 in line or exceeding national averages for the end of Key Stage 2. There is a significant staff turnover. The majority of teachers are recently qualified professionals who become highly effective teachers and quickly find opportunities for promotion in larger schools.
