Spring Grove Junior Infant and Nursery School which is situated in the centre of Huddersfield, has 270 pupils from nursery to Year 6. 88% are from minority ethnic groups with a significant proportion of Pakistani heritage. The proportion of pupils who are disadvantaged and supported by pupil premium, is well above average.

In 2004 I was appointed as Headteacher. At that time the school was graded good. By 2006 I had successfully moved the school forward to an Outstanding Ofsted with Grade 1s in all judgements. Following this I was designated as a National Leader of Education and school was given National Support School status. The challenge has been to maintain outstanding standards within school whilst also supporting schools within and beyond Kirklees. In March 2015 we were visited by Ofsted and graded as Outstanding in all five areas.
