RA Butler Infant Academy

RA Butler Infant Academy has 232 pupils and is currently expanding. It shares the site with RA Butler Junior Academy with Executive Head teacher, Linda Chesworth leading both academies.

Both Academies are named after Lord Butler, one of the most radical reforming ministers on shaking up the education system in the Education Act 1944, often known as the Butler Education Act.

The Executive Headteacher has led the academies since September 2013. In May 2013, the academy was judged by Ofsted to require improvement. Staff mobility was unusual; however since the Ofsted inspection eight teachers left the infant academy, including three senior leaders. Several issues were identified, such as the quality of leadership and management, teaching, phonics, writing and marking.
