In September 2013 I was given the great honour of taking on the headship of our great school. Poynton High School was awarded an “Outstanding” Ofsted Grading in 2008 under the Reduced Tariff Inspection Scheme. Our school is typified with very high achievement however it was clear upon starting that we had some significant areas for focus to improve, mainly:

• Progress of all learners
• Progress of the most disadvantaged learner
• Quality and consistency of Leadership in key aspects of school
• Knowledge and understanding of school standards by governors
• Leadership of Teaching and Learning was not a high enough priority
