In 2010, the Governing body of Orchard embraced a change agenda and a determination for the school to become a haven of educational excellence in challenging inner city context with high levels of deprivation. They bid successfully for large scale capital works which would make a statement of intent and aspiration in the local community and recruited a Headteacher with previous experience of leading a school through similar challenges, who shared their change agenda and held high expectations and ambition for the school.
