Mitchell Brook Primary

Mitchell Brook is a school situated in the heart of Brent in North West London. It is a larger than average school and serves 570 children, many of whom are from deprived or low income backgrounds. Over 50 different languages are spoken, a significantly higher percentage of children come from households with English as an additional language and a significantly higher proportion of children are in receipt of the Pupil Premium. The school has recently expanded from two to three form of entry with the completion of a new build.

Despite this Mitchell Brook has recently been judged by OFSTED as an Outstanding school and is the first one in the Borough under the new 2015 framework to reach this standard. The school has historically faced difficulty with recruitment and retention of staff and this has meant that capacity for continual improvement has been a challenge however this was recognised as a leadership team. In doing so, the drive to improve standards in teaching and learning has had to have a consistent approach led by open, like minded staff across the school. This was reflected in the School Development Priorities.
