Kingsmeadow Community Comprehensive School

Kingsmeadow School is located in the community of Dunston on the outskirts of Gateshead. While the school is an 11-16 mixed comprehensive, it has had a satellite sixth form provision for the last 8 years due to local demand to support the young people of the area. More than 80% of our students come from wards that are in the top 10% most deprived in England, but this is not apparent, due to our well-kept school and students’ excellent standards of uniform. The school was a new build PFI built for 900 students 11 years ago. The school is valued by students and the community, who appreciate the time and effort given by staff to support our young people. In 2013 Kingsmeadow schools’ numbers had dropped to below 600 and that was the year of the first RI judgement. The school roll fell further in 2015 and this was the year of the second RI. 2017 saw a third RI with numbers at 600. These were challenging times for Kingsmeadow.
