Inmans Primary School in the East Riding of Yorkshire has seen a great deal of change over the last ten years. From floods and relocation in 2007, to funding being granted for a complete rebuild. Now housed in a purpose built, eco-friendly building, future proofed as much as is possible, it is both the environment and the staff that make this a remarkable place for pupils to learn. The new build opened in 2011 and its layout was dictated by the way in which we wanted to teach – the relationship with outside learning opportunities, collaboration between classes and year groups, and the setting up of learning bases in and outside the classroom area were designed into the plans in collaboration with the architect.

With a good judgement in 2011, it was our ambition to capitalise on all aspects of current practice to ensure that improvements in attainment, as well as teaching and learning, became a feature of our school.
