Huntingdon Primary School

In January 2009 Huntingdon Primary School (HPS) opened as a new primary school as a result of the amalgamation of Huntingdon Infant and Huntingdon Junior Schools to form a primary school of 420 pupils. Over the next 3 years progress and attainment declined. This downward trajectory left the school heavily supported by the local authority.

I was appointed as an interim Headteacher January 2012 and the substantive post in September 2012. As an experienced Headteacher with extensive experience in leading two outstanding schools, working with vulnerable schools and time spent working as a LA Inspector I had a clear understanding of school improvement. Working closely with the Deputy and Assistant Headteachers we have taken rapid and rigorous action to turnaround the school through a focus on eradicating inadequate teaching and driving achievement.
