| About Us | Our Road to Outstanding “Inspire, Grow, Achieve” Melanie Saunders-Short, Headteacher Heronshaw School is an average size infant school of 270 children with two thirds White British and the remainder coming from a wide range of ethnic heritages. Fewer than 1 in 5 speaks English as a second language, which is above the national average. SEN is slightly above average, and our children in this category have high needs. The number of disadvantaged children are below the national average. Our Ofsted report of 2011 noted the schools’ commitment to children’s well-being and attainment, but also identified areas for development. These included the use of assessments to ensure well pitched lessons and deploying skilled teaching assistants to improve learning and outcomes for our children. |
