Bluecoat C of E Primary School

Bluecoat C of E Primary School in Great Torrington, North Devon, is an Early Years specialist school with a Christian ethos which caters for the education of over 500 pupils from 2 to 11yrs. The school gained Early Years Teaching Centre status as an Infant and Nursery School in September 2011, and moved into management partnership with the adjacent Junior School the following year.

Great Torrington Junior School emerged from Special Measures in November 2011 under the pro-active leadership of Sandy Brown (NLE). Sandy recognised the need to establish a sustainable long-term vision for the future, which incorporated strong governance and a rigorous focus on raising standards. She, therefore, instigated and championed a proposal to amalgamate with Bluecoat; placing emphasis throughout, on harnessing the support and active engagement of both parents and pupils.
