East Park Academy

In February 2016 East Park Primary was placed in ‘Special measures’. Every area of school was inadequate with the report stating that ‘Academic standards at this school have been too low for too long’. At that time the feelings amongst everyone, children, staff and families, was one of isolation, fear, and as stated in the report ‘morale was low’. Outcomes were all below national.

The new Head and deputy, Hayley Guest and Janine Sargent, were clear about what was needed and work began on establishing a caring, supportive culture where amazing learning could take place. Both had been Head and deputy together at their previous school and had a clear vision for East Park.
