Callands Community Primary School is a larger than average primary school and the large majority of pupils are of White British heritage. The proportion of pupils who speak English as an additional language is below the national average as is the proportion of disadvantaged pupils eligible for the pupil premium. The proportion of pupils who have special educational needs or disability is also below average.

In March 2016 the school was inspected by Ofsted and was awarded Outstanding in all areas. This was the outcome of a four year journey, with the school being in Special Measures up to the end of 2011. I was appointed and took up post as Headteacher in January 2012.
