Buswells Lodge is a large primary school with 464 pupils on roll. The school falls within the highest 10% of all schools who are deemed disadvantaged. We are a culturally diverse school and have a large percentage of pupils who have English as an additional language. A high number of pupils leave or join the school at times other than the start or end of the academic year.

In 2013, Ofsted noted that the progress made by pupils across the school was inconsistent. They wrote:

‘Achievement requires improvement because progress is not consistently good. While pupils in some classes, particularly in Years 5 and 6, make good progress, in other year groups progress is not equally good.’
